A Collegiate Court of Appeal in Mexico City confirmed the sentence of 44 years in prison against Martín Enriquez Monroy, Chelas, for its responsibility in the crimes of organized crime (kidnapping hypothesis) and aggravated kidnapping.
Said subject belonged to the criminal organization called The Reds And it is related to several kidnappings, including that of Silvia Vargas staircase perpetrated in September 2007, daughter of sports businessman Nelson Vargas. The band was characterized by the cruelty with which they treated their victims, who mutilated and murdered with excess violence in case their relatives did not meet their economic demands.
The Prosecutor’s Office specialized in organized crime, in coordination with the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office, made that conviction, issued in replacement of procedure be imposed.
In March 2009, this person was arrested by federal troops and made available to the corresponding authority in the northern prison of Mexico City.
Subsequently, and after various procedures and resolutions that were presented, the Federal Public Ministry contributed the evidence and obtained from the First Collegiate Court of Appeal in Criminal Matters of the First Circuit Confirmation of the sentence of 44 years in prison against Chelaswho remains imprisoned in said penalty of the capital.
