Court acquits Roberto Cárdenas for the case of alleged diversion of retirement funds

The Sentencing Court acquitted Roberto Cárdenas, former mayor of Lambaré accused of diverting retirement funds. The conduct is not typical in terms of breach of trust since the assets did not belong to the municipality, explained Judge Claudia Criscioni for PDS Radio and Digital TV.

According to the complaint, Cárdenas would not have transferred the retirement funds and contributions of the officials to the Retirement Fund. The supposed deviation was of more than G. 2,700 million contributions from municipal officials.

Shortly after, the same Trial Court sentenced Guido Salcedo, former administrative director of the Municipality of Lambaré, to three years in prison for breach of trust. The amount of property damage was G. 7,714 million.
