The 2nd Trial Court of Zulia handed down the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison against José Ángel Portillo Rincón and his partner Eliana del Valle García Gómez after their responsibility in the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old teenager was demonstrated.
The conviction was based on the body of evidence presented by the Public Ministry regarding the events that occurred in the Cabimas municipality.
The investigation determined that the victim reported the case to the psychopedagogue of her high school on March 12, 2025. According to the young woman’s story, the attacks by her stepfather began when she was 12 years old, a situation that her mother knew about and allowed through omission.
After the confession, the specialist went to the Cabimas municipal police to formalize the complaint, which led to the immediate arrest of the couple at their residence in sector H7.
During the judicial process, the 43rd Prosecutor’s Office ratified the charges against Portillo Rincón for continuous sexual violence, while García Gómez was prosecuted under the same criminal offense in commission by omission.
Currently, both convicts remain detained at the municipal police headquarters in Cabimas awaiting their transfer to a penitentiary center.
