A couple of citizens from the department of Caquetá were a victim of a hoax through Facebook that resulted in their kidnapping in the municipality of Algeciras, Huila. The criminals used the social network to offer for sale an alleged livestock farm, attracting the victims with a strikingly low price.

As reported by the National Army, the criminals published a Facebook advertisement in which they offered a farm of 235 hectares at a price of four million pesos, negotiable or permutable. With this hook, they contacted the couple, a 49 -year -old man and a 39 woman, arguing economic difficulties as a reason for the sale.
On February 17, the victims traveled to the point agreed with the alleged seller. Upon arrival, two subjects told them that they should continue on a motorcycle, since the area was not accessible to vehicles. Minutes later, the couple was retained against their will.
Kidnappers demanded money for the liberation of the couple
«At 5:00 pm, one of the children of the victims received a call in which alleged members of the Dagoberto Ramos residual group demanded 300 million pesos in exchange for the life of the kidnapped and their subsequent release. During the call, the criminals sent two videos as proof of life and an audio in which one of the victims, under coercion, asked their family to get as much money as possible, ”says the statement.
Upon knowing the case, units of the Army and Police Gaula, together with Soldiers of the High Mountain Battalion No. 9 and the CTI, deployed a rescue operation. During the process, they managed to intercept communications that revealed that the negotiations were carried out from a prison center. In addition, they identified coordinates that indicated the possible location of the kidnapped in a rural area.
The couple managed to escape and meet their family
With this information, the authorities intensified the operations, including drones and a detailed registration of the land. The pressure exerted forced the kidnappers to leave the couple in a house, waiting for the public force to retire.
During the early hours of February 19, the victims managed to escape and move to a safe area. Subsequently, they were located by the military units and transferred to the urban area of Algeciras, where they finally met with their family.
