A couple died on the afternoon of Friday (8) by jumping paragliding in Parque da Cidade, in the neighborhood of São Francisco, Niterói, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. The two fell into a hard -to -reach place and a fire brigade helicopter was used for rescue. 
As the place is difficult to reach, firefighters needed a helicopter’s aid and had to get off rappelling to reach the victims. When they arrived at the scene, the couple was already dead.
The victims, who have not yet been identified, were sent to the Niterói Forensic Medical Institute. The man would be about 30 years old and his wife, a young woman of about 23 years.
The couple opened the paragliding and jumped from the top of the city park, without knowing anyone at the scene, as they told the free flight instructors who were high on the ramp.
After the couple’s fall, the Niterói Public Order Secretariat (Seop) ordered the suspension of activities on the city’s Parque da Park flight ramps.
The Municipal Secretariat of Environment, Water Resources and Sustainability reported that the supervision of flight activity is the attribution of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Air Force, and that has exclusively competence about the maintenance of the park.
On site there are signs guiding the need to hire pilots accredited by the competent agencies for the practice.
