Materials found at the residence of retired general Mário Fernandes indicate that there was a set of strategies to hinder the investigations into the attempted coup d’état. One of them was aimed at the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) of January 8, so that the opposition could attribute responsibility to the Lula government for the coup acts of 2023. The information is in the Federal Police (PF) report, the secrecy of which was withdrawn today (26) by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Mário Fernandes was number two in the General Secretariat of the Presidency in Jair Bolsonaro’s government. The document with strategies for the CPMI was created on 05/16/2023, when Fernandes held a special position in the office of federal deputy General Pazuello. The document contains “force ideas” to guide the opposition to the Lula government. The main one was to remove responsibility from the group investigated by the PF and obtain the impeachment of the current President of the Republic.
Another objective was to wear down the STF and minister Alexandre de Moraes, to advance requests for impeachment of ministers of the supreme court, called “dictatorship of the toga”, and annul the arrests of the coup plotters of the January 8 acts, called “patriots”.
“Showing the abuse of power by the STF, especially Alexandre de Moraes, in the arrest of around 1,500 patriots, which has only one comparison in the history of humanity, which is the arrests of Jews by the Nazis in the Second World War”, says one of the excerpts from the document.
It was also intended to intimidate and coerce the Federal Police, by stating that the police body committed abuses and illegally arrested participants of January 8th.
In addition to the guidelines on the CPMI, notes were found with Mário Fernandes to create a narrative against the then Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino. The objective was to hold him responsible for his omission in the attempted coup d’état on January 8 in Brasília.
