Starting this October 1, young professionals and technicians from Chile will have the opportunity to apply for the Program COUNTRY SERVICEan initiative that seeks to promote development and overcome poverty in the most vulnerable communities in the country. This call, which will remain open throughout the month, allows applicants to live and collaborate in different locations throughout Chile for a year, applying their knowledge to generate a positive impact on the territory.
COUNTRY SERVICE, led by the Poverty Overcoming Foundation, offers 250 places this year for professionals from various areas and technicians in disciplines such as administration, finance, construction, agriculture and tourism to join this experience. The objective of program is to make local resources visible and activate, connecting people’s needs with new opportunities.
He program It is deployed in more than 100 communes throughout Chile, mainly in those with high levels of vulnerability and isolation. COUNTRY SERVICE participants work closely with local communities, developing projects related to areas as diverse as the environment, access to water, education, tourism, and infrastructure.
Selected applicants must reside in the assigned communes during the year of service, and in return, they will receive a financial contribution, health insurance and more than 300 hours of training. These trainings will be led by experts and academics, which will ensure that professionals have the necessary tools to face the challenges of their work in the field. The work of the youth of COUNTRY SERVICE It is considered a fundamental pillar in the construction of a more equitable and supportive country, as highlighted by the Executive Director of the Foundation, Catalina Littin.
In its 29 years of experience, COUNTRY SERVICE It has had the participation of more than 7 thousand professionals, of which around 40% have stayed to live and work in the region to which they were assigned. This not only represents an opportunity for professional decentralization, but also for the sustainable development of communities.
