Recommendations to avoid transmission and complications continue to be vaccination and use of masks.
While the great concern of the world is the new omicron variant, in the Dominican Republic the authorities report low positivity of new cases of covid-19. Yesterday, the health authorities reported zero deaths and only 310 new cases of SARS-COV-2.
The information was offered by the Ministry of Health, through bulletin number 620. The authorities processed 6,510 samples and from there 310 positive cases for SARS-COV-2 were detected.
For two consecutive days, no deaths were reported from the viral disease.
Important indicators.
The authorities maintain 2,261 beds for covid-19 in public and private hospitals. The General Directorate of Epidemiology said that of that number of beds, 396 are occupied, for 18%. Likewise, of the 585 beds that the intensive care units have for patients with complications from covid-19, yesterday there were 196 occupied, which represents 34%.
In the line of extremely serious patients, out of 469 ventilators that the system has, 127 people are connected, for 27%, the Epidemiology Directorate reported.
The authorities reported that the daily positivity stands at 7.48% and the accumulated one is at 7.57%.
Processed evidence.
The total of samples processed in the last 24 hours were processed 5,303 tests of ‘Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and 1,207 of antigen, of which 4,143 were made for the first time, and 2,367 were subsequent or follow-up to patients, indicates the official report.
Registered cases
The country has 3,446 active cases of SARS COV-2. The system registers 407,113.
2,046,367 suspected 399,463 patients recovered from the disease since the pandemic began.
There are 44,998 people under the age of 20 infected with the disease, 1,586 pregnant women and 1,649 health workers.
The authorities assure that in the Dominican Republic a total of 2,453,480 samples have been made since the pandemic began, equivalent to 234,817 per million people, it is evident.
Deaths
The country has accumulated 4,204 people killed by the disease since the pandemic began, with a fatality rate of 1.03% and mortality per million inhabitants of 402.35.
Risk groups
Risk groups are people with comorbidities. The Epidemiology Directorate reported that due to hypertension the deaths correspond to 24.12%, due to diabetes 15.06%, which coincides with the national data.
