Interior Minister Armando Benedetti reported that the National Government is working on the challenge of the ruling that brought the Councils of Ministers out of the air. The appeal would be presented in the next few days before the State Council.

“That is already walking. We are putting together and, as a government, we will present it next week,” Benedetti pointed out.
Last April 11, The High Court ordered President Gustavo Petro not to continue with the television broadcast of these meetings, where his government cabinet and he discussed issues related to the current situation of the country. With this determination, the next tips cannot be transmitted by local, or private television channels.
In fact, after the decision of the high court was known, the head of the political portfolio himself expressed that millions of citizens of the right to know the decisions made and that From the Executive, the presentation of this resource would be prepared.
“Do not rejoice so. The decision not to transmit the Councils of Ministers will be challenged. A guardianship cannot go against Law 182 of 1995. For a citizen who must turn off the TV, millions of people cannot be deprived of finding out the decisions of the Government,”indicated at the time the minister.
Benedetti added that by the nature of the determination it will be requested that the challenge be resolved in the Plenary Chamber of the State Council.

Why did they stop transmitting?
The failure indicates textually that: “It is not recounted in the violative behavior and, therefore, the Councils of Ministers do not transmit through private television channels, channel one and local, regional, and community television channels open, in accordance with the reasons expressed in this sentence.”
According to the sentence, these meetings would be limiting the possibility of accessing other sources of information, thus deriving that citizens consume only the official information presented by the Executive.
In that sense, it was emphasized that the transmissions that have been made in recent weeks, violated the right of citizens to receive plural, objective, truthful and timely information.
