Councilors recognize women in their day

The Council of Regents of the National District recognized 19 outstanding women from the three constituencies, with the merit “Heroines of Everyday Life” when commemorating the International Women’s Day.

These are women who have made contributions to their community and to social causes in the sectors where they reside.

Those recognized were: Alexandra Matos, Francina Hungary, Carmen Maria GonzalezOfelia García, Minerva Suero, Maritza de Jesús Rodríguez, Dignora de Jesús Frías, Gregoria Rosario de Jesús, Agueda Heredia, Rosa Arelis Morán, Zoila Arvelo, Ruth Jesualdo, Amada Carmona, Altagracia Herrera, Elizabeth Vargas, Carmen Mazara, Carmen Heredia, Happy Virtues and Solanicela Laurenc.

The president of the Council of Regidores, Elías Reynoso, opened the extraordinary session to learn about the initiatives to recognize outstanding women and firefighters in the National District. Both projects were approved by the more than 20 legislators present.

Councilors Yaser Domínguez, Fernando Acosta, Aníbar Rivera, Francisca Jáquez, among others, highlighted the value of Dominican women and their contributions to the best causes and to the Homeland.

Similarly, the councilors approved another initiative that recognizes the firefighters María de los Santos, Eduardo Antonio Hansen, David Ricardo Cohen, Elsa Estela Ramírez, Pedro Blandino, among others for their excellent career serving the National District firefighters for more than 20 years.
