“The idea arose from neighbors who approached me with concerns and problems in their neighborhoods,” Fassi explained. This is how the initiative arose for residents to organize in their neighborhoods. For this reason, we call on those who want to get together and organize in their neighborhood.”
According to him, the first meetings will be held in November, with the intention that each neighborhood has a neighborhood commission and its own references. “We want to start operating by neighborhood, have one or two representatives and, from there, channel the problems and look for solutions.
Fassi clarified that, as a councilor, his role is to accompany and promote these initiatives, because he does not have direct decision-making power over the execution of works. “The important thing is that the neighbors organize, because that strengthens the community and facilitates dialogue with the authorities,” he said.
Among the most frequent demands, the mayor mentioned issues of cleaning, lighting, street maintenance and the lack of recreational spaces. “Many children do not have a physical place in their neighborhood to play, and we also want to work on that together with the neighbors,” he added.
Participatory youth
On the other hand, Fassi highlighted the need to involve young people in community life. “We had already had talks with them during the campaign, and many were interested. We have to guide them, but also learn from their fresh ideas and their way of seeing reality,” he said.
The councilor stated that the objective is to work together between generations, promoting exchange and participation. “It’s good to listen to them, to know how they feel in Palmira, what they lack. The idea is to build community among everyone,” he concluded.
