The Argentine Eduardo “Chacho” Coudet, who this Wednesday has been dismissed as coach of Celta, stated in his farewell that this decision of the celestial leaders was not expected at this point in the season, although he assumes that it was “the chronicle of a death announced” for his estrangement with the sports adviser Luis Campos.
“It was not a decision that I expected, I knew how committed we were, I thought that these games were going to be until the place. It hasn’t been the best start, but we have the same points as last year at this point with a very big change in the squad”, he declared at a press conference.
Very excited, Coudet did not hide that his “project” at Celta changed “one hundred percent” since he renewed “for three seasons” in June 2021 until the Portuguese Campos signed as a sports advisor after the departure of Felipe Miñambres.
“That is undeniable, but I do not want to blame. Neither in Luis Campos nor in anyone. This is soccer. I wish everyone the best, nothing more,” said the former sky-blue coach, for whom Celta has been the team that has “disarmed” the most in LaLiga this season, losing “six of the players who performed the most” last grade.
“That’s not an excuse”, pointed out the Argentine, very hurt by his first dismissal as coach: “The club has made the decision, I didn’t expect it but I respect it. I think we’ve lived up to it, we’ve returned a philosophy to the club and after eight years it’s the first time I’ve been fired. I get emotional because it was not the idea to leave.
Coudet was accompanied by his assistant Ariel Broggi, at a press conference that was not attended by the club’s president and largest shareholder, Carlos Mouriño, from whom he had been estranged since the end of last season, especially for his firm defense of Denis Suárez , which the leaders prevent from being aligned.
“If he is not here, it will be due to some situation that he could not be, but I am surprised that he is not here,” Coudet stressed about the absence of the president, who this afternoon was accompanying the new coach, the Portuguese Carlos Carvalhal, in the sports city Afouteza.
