After the suicide that took place last Tuesday at the Costanera Center, the mall installed bars as a security measure inside the premises.
Due to the accident, the Seremi de Salud issued a summary against the mall, decreeing the “prohibition of access to the risk perimeter.” Among the “urgent and necessary” measures, the authority requested the implementation of a temporary physical barrier that “blocks free access to railings from the 2nd to 5th floors of the mall at a minimum distance of 600 centimeters from the railing.”

As a result of this, the mall is found with different security measures, such as glass panels bordering the escalators, wire mesh in open spaces, help points, among others.
