Costa Rica is looking for the owner of stores where pregnant Nicaraguans were beaten with pipes

The owner of the SyR stores, located in Costa Rica, where two Nicaraguan workers were brutally attacked, is wanted by the police authorities of that country, reported Costa Rican media.

According to the CRHoy report, the judicial authorities activated an alert on Friday to arrest the owner of the SyR clothing store chain, a 26-year-old Chinese citizen identified with the surname Lin, after the beating and humiliation he suffered was known. The employees gave two Nicaraguan migrants, also local workers, presumably on orders from the owners of a branch.

The fact that was recorded on video caused the authorities to intervene in the 16 stores of the chain located in San José. The man, who is in regular immigration status in Costa Rica, has not been seen since last night when he began the process of removing all SyR store signs from their branches.

The subject was driving a gray Mitsubishi Outlander truck, Costa Rican license plate HGX-888, which, according to the media, was located later.

During the review, the Professional Migration Police of Costa Rica identified 35 workers of Chinese, Nicaraguan, Venezuelan and Honduran nationalities, many of whom do not have a work permit because they are pending their immigration procedures.

14 stores were suspended for 24 hours and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security issued reports to 20 chain establishments that must correct their methods.

Nicaraguan workers are pregnant

This week the video circulated where employees of one of the stores are seen mistreating two women who are on their knees in the premises, allegedly accused of having stolen, with tubes, however, the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) reported that the accusation was false.

The assaulted women were identified as Nicaraguans, who were raped in August at the store in Costa Rica, but their case was not known until days ago. According to the versions, in addition to being beaten with tubes, they also cut the hair of one of them.

The Costa Rican outlet Alerta 8, from Channel 8, spoke with the father of one of the victims, who stated that both women are pregnant and were already in that condition when they were beaten. In addition, they have physical consequences, they cry non-stop and do not sleep.

“They are both pregnant. One is almost four months old and the other is a little over four months pregnant. With the girl who cut her hair, I have come to see her and every time she shows herself in front of her mirror, she grabs her head and begins to cry. I think that this cannot be said to be recovery,” the man said on condition of anonymity.

«In the photographs (where the blows are observed) you only see the parts that they allowed to be taken. That is, if we were scared by the photographs that they allowed to show, just give yourself an idea of how they were totally on the whole body. I asked them, did you steal? And they both told me no, that they had never touched a penny, that they had never taken another penny from anywhere, “she added.

The interviewee reaffirmed that he was waiting for the alleged evidence of the crime that the aggressors would present, but “they did not present anything at all.”

After the beating, the workers spent five days in the hospital due to the physical and psychological sequelae and, to date, have not been able to work.

«They don’t even want to go out, out of fear, out of shame, out of pain. One of them still has bleeding in one of her arms. Now they live in fear of these people because if they are capable of doing what they did in their own business, next to a bank where there are also supposed to be security cameras, and they didn’t care (…) Who wouldn’t be afraid? ? They are afraid,” the man declared.
