The Cost of Living by Social Class (CVCS) fell by 0.21% in August in the metropolitan region of São Paulo compared to the previous month. In relation to August 2021, there was an increase of 9.23% in the index. The data, released today (3), are from the Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP).
According to the entity, the drop in the cost of living, compared to the previous month, is due to the reduction in fuel prices. “Gasoline alone dropped 10.6% at the pumps in August, while ethanol dropped 8.6%, and diesel oil – whose price affects the country’s logistics, as it is the fuel used by trucks – lost 3, 2% of the price it had in July”, highlighted FecomercioSP, in a note.
The cost of living in August, compared to July, had a sharper drop for classes D and E: 0.59% and 0.44%, respectively. For classes B and A, the reduction was smaller: 0.06% and 0.12%, respectively.
