The vice president-elect, Carolina Cossemet with the current vice president, Beatriz Argimonto begin the transition process in the vice presidency of the country. This meeting took place at 2:00 p.m., at the Legislative Palacea venue that is currently undergoing construction to celebrate the centenary of its inauguration.

During the meeting, Cosse and Argimón discussed different aspects related to the new administration and its operation. The vice president-elect expressed that the dialogue covered “the different executing units” and the “100 years commission,” offering a general vision of the immediate priorities of her administration.

Preparations for a new management

Cosse noted that the provision of a transition room in the Legislative Palace was agreed upon, which he will use to hold meetings relevant to his new position. He clarified his intention to begin conducting interviews on Monday, in a bid to better understand the dynamics of his future role, along with some of his campaign team.

The vice president-elect emphasized the importance of detailed work on the legislative aspects that will affect her management. “My team is doing detailed work on a number of legislative aspects that I am going to make known.”he commented. In this sense, he mentioned that different relevant projects are being reviewed, aligned with the Frente Amplio campaign program.

A focus on legislative innovation

Cosse also highlighted the need to incorporate current issues in the legislative analysis. Among these topics, he mentioned Artificial Intelligence, considering it an emerging area that should be explored by Parliament. “I think it is important that Parliament gets closer to science”he added. This approach indicates a willingness to modernize the legislative agenda and respond to contemporary challenges.

The new vice president assured that her team will be attentive to government definitions to understand the composition of the parliamentary team that will accompany her in her new responsibility. This suggests a desire for cohesion and collaboration in the legislative space, in order to facilitate working together.

Collaboration and unity in public service

When asked about the importance of agreements in parliamentary work, Cosse shared her experience, stating that “Whoever conceives management as a sequence of orders has never managed”. Their approach suggests that successful management involves working as a team and setting common goals, rather than acting in isolation.

“I am going to focus not on which party each parliamentarian belongs to, but on what project we are carrying out”Cosse emphasized. This statement reveals his intention to prioritize collaboration over partisan differences, focusing on projects developed in Parliament.

Within the framework of the conversation, Cosse also referred to the importance of promoting female participation in politics. She stated that she would like to revive the bicameral women’s caucus, proposing an interest in promoting more equitable representation in national politics. This approach could contribute to making women’s work visible in the legislative field and in decision-making.
