President Laurentino Cortizo signed Executive Decree No. 17 on Wednesday afternoon, which reduces the price of medicines established for consumers by 30% and which will take effect on August 15, 2022 for a period of six months, extendable. .
Executive Decree No. 17 of Wednesday, August 10, 2022, which establishes this measure, was promulgated on Wednesday night in the Official Gazette.

The application of this discount occurs after President Cortizo approved this Tuesday the recommendation of the technical table of medicines to apply a 30% discount to 170 medicines on the exceptional or emergency list, and additionally maintain the 20% discount to the retired.
The president’s decision came after the technical table for medicines, chaired by the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of the Presidency, José Gabriel Carrizo, recommended last week to President Cortizo to invoke article 106 of Law 1 of Medicines of 2001 to create a subcommittee in which the drugs included in the emergency list were determined.
