With an investment of one million 804 thousand 12 dollars and 28 cents, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, inaugurated today the new Altos de Pedregal – Santa Cruz road that includes an extension of 3.26 kilometers.
It corresponds to the project to rehabilitate the streets of the townships of Pedregal, Mañanitas, Pacora, Las Garzas, Tocumen, 24 de Diciembre and San Martín.
As the president explained, handing over this highway is positive, since it is defined in development. “Obviously, we have had difficult moments in the economy and public finances, but every penny that can enter the state coffers, we want to give it to the people,” he explained.
On the other hand, the Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge made a presentation of the works of this work, which included the rehabilitation of the road with hot asphalt concrete pavement and the expansion of the existing road for two lanes. In addition, the implementation of drainage systems for proper water circulation, which guarantee that the pavement work lasts much longer; the crossings of pipes and protection of slopes and edges with zampeados.
The president took advantage of the work tour in said sector to carry out the ribbon cutting of the Altos de Cabuya School, benefiting 648 students from this community who will debut new structures with more comfort, safety, spaciousness and better spaces.
In addition, he visited the branch of Line 2 of the Panama Metro at the Airport station, which registers an 85% progress in civil works and electromechanical systems, and 38% progress in the comprehensive railway system (SIF) .
The works delivered by Cortizo in the 8-10 circuit total 46.7 million dollars.
