On a national network, President Laurentino Cortizo announced Monday afternoon that he decided to extend the measure of freezing the price of a gallon of fuel at $3.95 for private vehicles nationwide as of July 15.
The president called for this Tuesday the Cabinet Council to approve a decree that will freeze the price of 10 additional products of the basic food basket.
During the speech, he pointed out that his administration has been characterized by its sensitivity towards the problems that affect Panamanians, especially the most vulnerable.
“One of the problems that now hits Panamanians and the world is the rise in the price of fuel and its consequences. For that reason, the Work Table was installed to address the High Cost of Fuel that directly impacts the Price of the Basic Basket, with the purpose of finding concrete and feasible solutions”, he indicated.
Regarding the constant closure of streets and demonstrations at the national level, Cortizo mentioned: “I have been aware of events in the country and I understand the dissatisfaction of the various sectors due to the situation we are experiencing, caused by the effects of the pandemic and the consequences of the conflict. in Ukraine, factors external to Panama”.
