“This working tour aims to bring the PAN closer to like-minded parties in the region, to diagnose democracy in Latin America and to analyze the consequences of populism,” the PAN explained in a statement.
The party seeks to strengthen ties with like-minded parties and leaders and “join forces to combat threats to democracy and freedom in Latin America from authoritarian and populist governments.”
The first meeting will be with leaders of the Colombian Conservative Party in Cartagena de Indias; then she will travel to Venezuela, where she will meet with Corina Machado, “in absolute support against the aggressions that she and her team have received from the regime.”
According to the party, the National Action delegation is attending as guests to witness the electoral process next Sunday in Venezuela.
“This working tour aims to (…) see the scope and consequences of populism, as well as analyze the risks that exist in Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela in terms of security, health, party systems, parliamentary work, among many others.
“Likewise, in the face of the 20 regressive reforms that the López Obrador government will present, the national president will gather experiences in Colombia and Venezuela on the functioning, proposals and actions that have been taken with electoral reforms and the Judicial Branch in these countries,” the party detailed in the statement.
