A Federal Court issued a temporary order to block the shipping to the Guantanamo Naval Base of three Venezuelan immigrants arrested in the state of New Mexico

A Federal Court prevented the Government of Donald Trump on Sunday, sending three Venezuelan migrants arrested in New Mexico to the Naval Bay of the Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, in the midst of a broad strategy deployed by the US president to control the illegal immigration.

In a legal document presented earlier that day, the lawyers of the men affirmed that the detainees «fit into the profile of those that the government gives priority to be detained in Guantanamo, that is, Venezuelan men detained in the area of The passage based on (false) accusations of being linked to the band of Aragua ».

The text is asked for a Federal District Court in New Mexico that issue a temporary restriction order to block its transfer, adding that «the mere uncertainty that the Government has created around the availability of legal process and access to advice It is enough to authorize the modest judicial mandate ».

During a brief hearing, Judge Kenneth J. Gonzales granted the temporary order, to which the government opposed, said Jessica Vosburgh, lawyer of the three men.

«It is in the short term. This will be reviewed and detailed more in the coming weeks, ”Vosburgh told The Associated Press.

A message was left to the immigration and customs control service to request your comments.

The document was presented as part of a lawsuit on behalf of the three men filed by the activist groups Center for Constitutional Rights, the American Union of Civil Liberties of New Mexico, and the Las Américas Immigrant Advisory Center.

The Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, indicated last week that flights with detained people had landed in Guantanamo. Defending groups of the rights of immigrants sent a letter in which they demanded to have access to the people who have been sent there, saying that the base should not be used as a “legal black hole.”

The White House Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, reported on Wednesday that more than 8,000 people have been arrested in actions to contain immigration since Trump’s investiture on January 20.

Trump has promised to deport millions of approximately 11.7 million people in the United States illegally.
