The President of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Celso Juan Marranzini, said this Wednesday during his participation in the Lunch of the group corripio that he Free Zones sector of the country recovers its capacity to generate jobs after the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this sense, Marranzini explained that the free zones have generated at least 180,000 direct jobs after the pandemic, thus benefiting the same number of workers.

During the Corripio Lunch, the AIRD executive said that this number of jobs was previously seen when the sector had a mainly textile activity, however, thanks to the “Work” that has been done in the free zones to diversify its scope today today you can see these kinds of results.
“The sector has done an extraordinary job diversifying and capturing other jobs through other activities,” he emphasized.
Marranzini’s statements are consistent with the position of the Dominican Government, which has reiterated on several occasions that after the COVID pandemic in the Dominican Republic, the number of unemployed people reintegrated into the labor market has been exceeded and that they lost their jobs due to the generated economic and social crisis.
