The Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (Corpac) reported this Thursday, November 6, on the temporary suspension of air operations at the Captain FAP Renán Elías Olivera International Airport in Pisco, due to the adverse weather conditions recorded in the area.
According to the official statement, the temporary closure of the airport was ordered from 2:00 p.m. due to strong winds and low visibility generated by rising dust, which represents a risk to the safety of air operations.
Corpac specified that the measure was adopted in compliance with aeronautical safety protocols and that hIt has mainly affected training and tourism flights, including tours over the Nasca Lines.
The entity noted that operations will resume once weather conditions improve, thus guaranteeing the safety of aircraft, passengers and crews that use the Pisco air terminal.
“Paracas Winds”
In the province of Pisco, the so-called “Paracas winds” have caused an intense cloud of dust that reduces visibility in several sections of the Panamericana Sur. This situation forced drivers to turn on their lights to travel with greater caution between kilometers 230 and 255 of the road.
Pisco, Paracas and San Andrés are among the most affected areas. In these locations, the temporary closure of businesses has been reported, especially in the resort of Paracas.
