Coronavirus in Uruguay: 20 deaths, 8,446 new cases and 164 patients in ICU

Uruguay registered this Tuesday 8,446 new cases of coronavirus on a total of 24,199 tests, reported the National Emergency System (Sinae). The positivity rate was 34.9%, although duplicate tests are also included in some people (antigen and PCR).

What’s more, there were 20 deaths in the last 24 hours of patients with covid-19, who were between 65 and 98 years old. Since the health emergency was declared on March 13, 2020, there have been 6,676 deaths diagnosed with the disease in Uruguay.

There are 61,580 active cases across the country and 164 people are in intensive care centers, according to the official report. Of the total positive cases, 846 correspond to the health personnel.

Of the 8,446 new cases, 4,005 were from Montevideo, 1,240 from Canelones, 384 from Maldonado, 277 from San José, 274 from Paysandú, 253 from Colonia, 214 from Florida, 206 from Soriano, 205 from Salto, 204 from Rocha, 183 from Río Negro, 171 from Artigas, 171 from Lavalleja, 160 from Rivera, 138 from Tacuarembo, 122 from Cerro Largo, 98 from Treinta y Tres, 95 from Flores and 46 from Durazno.

All departments report infected people this Tuesday, and Montevideo leads the active list with 28,889. follow him cannelloni (8,586), Maldonado (2,827), Tacuarembo (1888) and Saint Joseph (1870), among others.

For the report of the day, the Ministry of Public Health reported that removed two cases from the active list.
