Coronavirus in Uruguay: 20 deaths, 8,112 new cases and 165 patients in ICU

Uruguay registered this Wednesday 8,112 new cases of coronavirus on a total of 20,546 tests, reported the National Emergency System (Sinae). The positivity rate was 39.4%, although duplicate tests are also included in some people (antigen and PCR).

What’s more, there were 20 deaths in the last 24 hours of patients with covid-19, who were between 54 and 97 years old. Since the health emergency was declared on March 13, 2020, there have been 6,696 deaths diagnosed with the disease in Uruguay.

There are 59,339 active cases across the country and 165 people are in intensive care centers, according to the official report. Of the total positive cases, 776 correspond to the health personnel.

Of the 8,112 new cases, 3,907 were from Montevideo, 1,124 from Canelones, 344 from Colonia, 331 from Maldonado, 295 from Tacuarembó, 276 from Paysandú, 257 from San José, 208 from Florida, 171 from Soriano, 169 from Río Negro, 157 from Salto, 155 from Cerro Largo, 149 from Lavalleja, 145 from Rivera, 121 from Rocha, 117 from Artigas, 75 from Treinta y Tres, 67 from Flores and 44 from Durazno.

All departments report infected people this Wednesday, and Montevideo leads in number of assets with 27,928. follow him cannelloni (8,474), Maldonado (2,675), Saint Joseph (1923) and Tacuarembo (1877), among others.

For the report of the day, the Ministry of Public Health reported that removed 12 cases from the active list.
