Coronavirus in Cuba: three cases confirmed and the same number of medical discharges on Tuesday

The health authorities in Cuba reported that until midnight on Tuesday, October 18, 1,513 samples were analyzed in the country’s laboratories, which allowed the identification of three new cases of COVID-19 this day.

The most recent part disclosed on the website of Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) indicates that there were no deaths related to this disease, so the figure of 8,530 deaths since the start of the pandemic remains the same.

Without variation, the fatality rate of 0.77% also appears, which contrasts with the 1.59% registered in the Latin American region, and the 1.04% registered worldwide.

Currently, 32 people remain hospitalized, of which 17 are suspected of having been infected with the new coronavirus, while 15 are confirmed active. No serious or critical patients hospitalized in intensive care units are recorded.

Of the new patients, two are female and one is male, whose ages are distributed as follows: under 20 years of age (two) and over 60 years of age (one).

Two of those infected were contacts of confirmed cases and the other had his source of infection abroad, while the affected provinces were Havana, Camagüey and Holguín.

The Minsap also confirmed that the two evacuated at the beginning of the pandemic and the 57 returned to their countries are maintained, while the medical discharges granted on the day amounted to three.
