Coronavirus in Cuba: Saturday without deaths and with less than 50 infections

In 44 the new cases of COVID-19 in Cuba until midnight this Saturday, May 21, thanks to the analysis of 4,647 samples as reported by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

The most recent part The health agency points out that there were no deaths related to the disease on the day, so the 8,529 deaths caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus since March 2020 remain. The mortality rate is 77%.

1,506 patients remain hospitalized, of which 1,207 are suspected of having contracted the new coronavirus, another 25 are under epidemiological surveillance, while 274 add up to those confirmed active.

Of the new cases, 27 are women and 17 men, 38 of the total were contacts of confirmed cases, one had its source of infection abroad and the route of infection of five patients continues to be investigated.

Regarding their ages, 23 are under 20 years old, another eight were between 20 and 39 years old, seven are between 40 and 59, and six are over 60 years old.

According to the MINSAP, the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Holguín, as well as the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality, did not report new cases that day. Las Habana and Artemisa, both with eight infections, were the most affected.

The part indicates that 49 medical discharges were granted. In addition, three patients were treated in intensive care units, two of them in critical condition and one reported as serious.
