The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) de Cuba reported that none of the 805 samples analyzed until midnight on Monday, October 17, were positive for the presence of the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus.
The most recent party of the health agency points out that there were no deaths related to the COVID-19so the figure of 8,530 deaths from this cause since the start of the pandemic is maintained, as well as the fatality rate of 0.77%.
In this sense, the data contrasts with the fatality rate of 1.52% that the Latin American region exhibits, and the 1.04% that prevails in the world, highlights the MINSAP.

This is the second time in the last two weeks that no infections are reported in Cuba, a fact that underpins the control of the epidemic achieved on the island thanks to the measures taken by the authorities, plus the design and production of its own vaccines against COVID-19.
Currently, 52 people are hospitalized for the disease, of which 37 are suspected of having been infected with the new coronavirus, while the number of confirmed active patients was set at 15, all with a stable clinical evolution and none in intensive care rooms.
The Minsap also reported that the two evacuated at the beginning of the pandemic and the 57 returned to their countries remain, while two medical discharges were granted on the day.
