Coronavirus in Cuba: another day without deaths and with 123 infections

In his most recent report, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported that until midnight on Friday, May 6, the laboratories had analyzed 5,602 samples, and 123 of them were positive for the presence of the virus. SARS-Cov-2 virus in Cuba.

The part of the organism points out that there were no deaths related to COVID-19 on the day, and that 2,508 people remain hospitalized, of which 1,893 are suspected of having contracted the new coronavirus, 23 under epidemiological surveillance, while those confirmed active stood at 592.

Of the total cases, 112 were contacts of confirmed cases, another 5 had their source of infection abroad, and the route of infection of only six patients is unknown.

Regarding age, 54 are under 20 years old, another 22 are between 20 and 39 years old; 19 were identified in ages between 40 and 59 years, and 28 patients were over 60 years of age.

All the country’s provinces, except Santiago de Cuba, reported at least one contagion, with Camagüey (26), Havana (16) and Mayabeque (15) reaching or exceeding 15 identified cases.

According to the MINSAP report, the mortality rate from COVID-19 on the Island remains at 0.77%.

On the day, 144 medical discharges were granted, while nine patients are treated in the country’s intensive care units, four in critical condition and five reported in serious condition.
