Coronavirus in Cuba: 21 new infections and 112 active cases at the close of this Friday

The Cuban health authorities reported the detection of 21 new infections of coronavirus at the close of this Saturday, a day in which no deaths from COVID-19 were reported.

In addition, 13 medical discharges were given, bringing the number of active cases of the disease to 112.

In total, 280 patients are hospitalized, of which 168 are suspected, while all confirmed cases have a stable clinical course, so none are in intensive care, according to the most recent party of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

The 21 new patients were detected after the analysis of 2,149 samples and of these, 15 were contacts of confirmed cases, 5 had their source of infection abroad and in one the origin of the contagion could not be specified.

Only four patients (19% of the total) were asymptomatic at the time of detection, while by sex, 13 belong to the female, 13 and 8 to the male.

By age, those under 20 years of age were the most affected, with 10, while the rest behaved as follows: from 20 to 39 years (5), from 40 to 59 years (4) and from 60 years and over (two).

Finally, Havana, with 10 cases, was the only province that reached ten, while another seven (Mayabeque, Sancti Spíritus, Las Tunas, Granma, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo) did not register new infections.
