The Cuban health authorities reported 38 new infections of coronavirus at the close of this Friday, a day in which no deaths from COVID-19 were officially recorded on the island.
In addition, 378 people remained hospitalized for the disease, 192 of them suspected and 186 confirmed active. Two patients were in intensive care units: one in critical condition and the other in serious condition, at the time that 37 medical discharges were given.
The new cases were detected after the analysis of 2079 samples and of them 34 were contacts of confirmed cases, one had its source of infection abroad and in three the origin of the contagion could not be specified.
Only seven (18.4%) were asymptomatic when detected, according to the most recent party of the Island’s Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

By provinces, Havana was confirmed as the most affected territory in recent days, reporting 17 new cases. Of the rest, only Holguín reached half a dozen (5), while Artemisa, Las Tunas and Santiago de Cuba did not register patients.
By sex, 19 are female, 19 and 18 male, while by age groups, those under 20 predominated among those infected, with 17. The rest were distributed among patients aged 20 to 39 (12), 40 to 59 years (5), and 60 years and over (4).
After this day, Cuba has accumulated 1,106,365 cases officially reported since the start of the pandemic. Meanwhile, those who died from COVID-19 amounted to 8,529 and those who recovered to 1,097,591, 99.2% of the total number of patients, although some of them have suffered sequelae from the disease.
