Coronavirus: 29 infections reported by Cuba on Wednesday. Another day without deaths

The Cuban health authorities reported 29 patients with COVID-19 on the first day of June, thanks to the processing of 5,042 samples in authorized laboratories throughout the country.

The most recent part issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) points out that there were no deaths related to the disease, so the number of deaths since the start of the pandemic remains at 8,529, which represents a fatality rate of 0.77%.

1,167 people are hospitalized, of which 969 are suspected of having contracted the new coronavirus, and another 28 are under epidemiological surveillance. The confirmed active ones added up to 170.

Among the positives, 25 had contact with sick people, and another four were infected before recently entering the country.

As for their ages, 16 are under 20 years old, five are between 20 and 39 years old, another three are between 40 and 59, while five are over 60 years old.

During the day, 12 provinces and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality reported new cases, but only Havana (seven) exceeded the figure of five. In turn, Santiago de Cuba and Camagüey reported one contagion each, but imported. Guantanamo and Granma were free of new patients.

The Minsap also reported the granting of 36 medical discharges. Of the hospitalized patients, three are treated in intensive care units, one reported as critical and two in serious condition.
