Coronavirus: 18 new cases and 16 medical discharges this Saturday in Cuba

The Cuban health authorities reported 18 new infections of coronavirus at the close this Saturday, in a day in which 16 medical discharges were granted and there were no deaths from COVID-19, according to official data.

The new cases were detected after the analysis of 1818 samples and of these 15 were contacts of confirmed cases, one had its source of infection abroad and in two the origin of the infection could not be specified.

In this way, the number of patients admitted for the infectious disease rose to 137, of which 64 were suspected and 37 were confirmed active. Of the latter, four people are in intensive care rooms, all in serious condition, according to the most recent part of the Island’s Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

As for other statistics of the new patients, 10 are female and eight are male. Furthermore, only three were asymptomatic at the time of detection.

Meanwhile, by age group, of the 18 cases diagnosed on Saturday, nine are under 20 years of age. Of the rest, five are between 20 and 39 years old, one between 40 and 59, and three are over 60.

Finally, seven Cuban provinces reported patients, among which Holguín (6) and Sancti Spíritus (4), registered the highest number.
