The national senator of Together for Change (JxC) for Mendoza, alfredo cornejoconfirmed this Wednesday his candidacy for governor of the province and ratified his intention to participate in the Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Primaries (PASO) of Cambia Mendoza, the space that governs the province.
This was confirmed by the national senator through his official Twitter account: “I have listened carefully to all the opinions regarding the proposal that has been made public Rodolfo Suarez“, referring to the current governor.
“I have taken the necessary time to reflect and I want to communicate to the men and women of Mendoza that I have decided to accept the nomination to be Governor“, remarked the former president.
The announcement was made this Wednesday morning, after the provincial Governor promoted him as a candidate and the pronouncement of Cornejo was expected, who did so through social networks.
In another section, regarding the reason for his acceptance, Cornejo pointed out that he does so “with the vocation of continuing to build a new State that allows Mendoza to live better and better.”
“Also I do it with the determination to influence the national context, which is where a good part of the destiny of the provinces is defined. Argentina needs more of Mendoza’s example. That is why I want to contribute our values of order, austerity, institutionalism and, above all, I want to add a modern vision of the management of the economy to end the cycle of Kirchnerist failure,” Cornejo said last afternoon.

Meanwhile, this Wednesday afternoon accompanied by Governor Rodolfo Suarez and the president of the provincial UCR, Tadeo Garcia ZalazarCornejo led a press conference in a central hotel in the Mendoza capital.
At the beginning of his speech, the brand new candidate pointed out that “Mendoza is better than seven years ago.”
“In all the things that the Constitution attributes to the provincial State, we are better,” he said.

The former governor indicated that Cambia Mendoza’s program is “for the State to be more efficient, more effective, that it generates equal opportunities for individuals and the private sector to develop their talents” and was “against the populist narrative.”
In another passage of his presentation, he questioned the national government and, among other points, maintained that “we have difficulties in the provision of services regulated by the Nation, which influence the provincial ones; difficulties derived from blundering macroeconomic errors, whose exclusive competence is the government national”.
Although there was speculation about the possibility that during that presentation the national senator would make his running mate known to compete in the primaries as a candidate for lieutenant governor, this did not happen.
Before Cornejo took the floor, Governor Rodolfo Suarez spoke, thanking him for having accepted “this challenge” and mentioned that the Mendoza elections “are fundamental” and that they will be seen by the entire country.
“We have been a clear example of opposition to the national government,” he stressed.
Mendoza will hold the provincial primary elections on June 11 and the general elections on September 25.
