During the last hours, Deputy Gonzalo de la Carrera (former Republican) and Senator Matías Walker (Democrats) shared a video widely disseminated on social networks where they denounced armed attacks against brigade members who were fighting forest fires.
However, according to the same Chilean Wood Corporation (Corma) it is false news. “The video is real, but it is old and related to other emergencies,” they clarified, adding that “unknown hands are spreading it as if it were from now, but it is fake news.”
It should be noted that last season’s video shows Juan José Ugarte, president of Corma, denouncing “serious criminal acts” and that “heavily armed groups” exercised territorial control to prevent brigade members from continuing with their work.
In this context, the audiovisual material was shared by Walker who demanded that “all the powers of the State be exercised”, followed by Gonzalo de la Carrera, who treated the Government as “inept”, asking that a State of Siege be declared as a result of the published images.
