Coritiba dismissed the Paraguayan coach Gustavo Morínigo, after the 0-1 home loss against the current Brazilian champion, Atlético Mineiro, on matchday 22 of the League.
Morínigo, in charge since January 2021, leaves the green team in the relegation places of the Second Division, with 22 points after 22 games played.
“The board made the decision” to dismiss him “after the match against Atlético Mineiro, at the Couto Pereira stadium,” the club said in a statement.
Morínigo leaves after 99 games at the helm of the Coritiba team, with a balance of 43 wins, 22 draws and 34 losses.
Along with him, the assistants Roberto “Toro” Acuña and Diosnel Burgos, as well as the physical trainer Gonzalo Llanos, also leave the entity.
The leadership of the club from the city of Curitiba also decided to dispense with its sports director, René Simoes, in office since the beginning of this season.
“Coritiba thanks everyone for the work done and wishes them luck in their next challenges,” he said in the note. EFE
