Flamengo defeated Cuiabá at home by 1-2

Corinthians climbed this Saturday to second place in the Brazilian league by defeating Athletico Paranaense 2-1, in the thirty-first day of the championship.

The Paraguayan defender Fabián Balbuena, with a header, and Roger Guedes, with a penaltyscored Corinthians’ goals against the team led by Luiz Felipe Scolari, Copa Libertadores finalist.

With his victory, Corinthians reached 54 points, twelve behind the leader, Palmeiras, club that dominates the league with authority and that on Monday visits Atlético Goianiense.

Paranaense parked in sixth position of the league with 46 points, five units away from the qualifying positions for the Copa Libertadores.

In the other match advanced to this Saturday, Flamengo defeated Cuiabá at home by 1-2, with goals from Matheus França and Marinho, in a match in which the Rio de Janeiro team played with the substitutes, to reserve strength for the first leg of the Brazilian Cup final, which will be played next Wednesday against Corinthians.

Flamengo is in fourth place in the league, with 52 pointswhile Cuiabá remains in the relegation places, with 30 units.
