The Dérbi Paulista will decide the São Paulo women’s football champion in 2024. This Sunday (10), Corinthians drew 1-1 with São Paulo, in front of almost 33 thousand people at the Neo Química Arena. The Brabas benefited from the 1-0 victory in the first game, a week ago, at Canindé, to guarantee themselves in the decision. The black and white team, which is looking for its fifth state title, will face Palmeiras, who eliminated Ferroviária.

The Corinthians have won all the trophies played so far this year (Supercopa do Brasil, Campeonato Brasileiro and Libertadores) and can repeat in 2024, when they were champions four times in the season. The Soberanas, in turn, fell for the second time to the same rivals in a knockout in 2024. They lost the Brazilian championship decision to the Brabas.
It is the third time that Palmeiras and Corinthians will decide a title between women. In 2021, the black and white team won the Brasileirão beating the Palestrinas. Last year, the rivals reached the Libertadores final, with Brabas triumphing as they bid farewell to coach Arthur Elias. The dates and locations of the matches will be confirmed by the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF). The games are expected to take place on the 15th and 20th of November.

With an advantage on the aggregate score, Corinthians adopted a more measured stance to slow down São Paulo’s momentum. In the 26th minute, however, a defensive failure resulted in a goal for the visitors. Full-back Isabela played the wrong way on the left and Aline Milene took advantage. The midfielder played the first time to striker Dudinha, who hit the ball from the edge of the area, into the corner of goalkeeper Lelê. More connected, the Soberanas almost expanded at 38, with a header from midfielder Serrana, which hit the crossbar.
The tricolors came back from the break pressing and came close to the goal twice with headers from Aline Milene and defender Ana Alice. The black and white team, on the other hand, did not miss the first big chance they had in the match. In the 23rd minute, Millene invaded the area from the left and was brought down by midfielder Maressa. The striker herself – who had come off the bench just 11 minutes before – converted the charge and guaranteed Brabas’ classification.
Copa Paulista
This Sunday, Santos won the Copa Paulista title, a knockout tournament that brought together the teams positioned between fifth and eighth place in the first phase of Paulistão. The Sereias da Vila beat Red Bull Bragantino 3-0, at Vila Belmiro, with goals from midfielder Thaisinha and strikers Carol Baiana and Ketlen. As Bragantinas won the first leg at Nabizão, in Bragança Paulista (SP), 4-1, the cup was decided on penalties, with Santos winning 4-3.
