In the semifinals, Alvinegras will face Nacional (Uruguay), who defeated Deportivo Cali (Colombia) by 2-1, earlier, in the same place. The duel will be next Tuesday (16), at 5:30 pm (Brasilia time), at the Manuel Ferreira stadium, also in Asunción. Brazilians and Uruguayans faced each other in the first phase, in Group D, with a Corinthians victory by 5-1.

The alvinegro team needed 30 seconds to get ahead. Striker Adriana crossed on the right and midfielder Tamires headed for the net. The Peruvians did not give up and managed to tie after 12 minutes. Midfielder Wendy Bonilla took off an assist over the Corinthians defense and forward Sandy Dorador, in the face of goalkeeper Kemelly, finished to make everything the same.

The Brazilians pressed and got the second goal in extra time. Full-back Yasmin took a corner kick on the right and Vic Albuquerque headed the corner. The forward also scored Corinthians’s third, eight minutes into the final stage. She took advantage of a blunder in the defense, which didn’t cut off midfielder Gabi Zanotti’s chewed kick, and only needed to cover the goalkeeper to define the score.

In the other semifinal, the current champion Ferroviaria – who is looking for a third continental title, like Corinthians – measures forces with Santa Fe (Colombia). The clash will be on Monday (15), at 5:30 pm, also at Manuel Ferreira. Last Friday (12), at the same stadium, the Colombians eliminated Avaí/Kindermann by winning by 6-5 on penalties, after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
