In a busy classic, Corinthians and São Paulo drew 1-1, this Sunday (22) at Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, in a duel valid for the 7th round of the Brazilian Championship. Calleri scored the visitors’ goal in the first half and Adson equalized for the home team in the second. With the result, Timão goes to 14 points, in the leadership of the table, while Tricolor comes close behind, with two points less, along with Palmeiras, Atlético-MG and Botafogo.

The first half was busy, with São Paulo dominating even playing away from home. Goalkeeper Cássio, from Corinthians, made several difficult saves, as in Alisson’s kick, which he received inside the area and hit the first time, on the right. The draw extended São Paulo’s taboo at the Corinthians stadium: since the Arena was inaugurated, in 2014, Tricolor has never beaten the opponent in enemy territory. There are 16 games, with ten Corinthians victories and six draws.
The two teams have commitments for the continental tournaments in the middle of the week. On Thursday (26), Timão decides its future in Libertadores against Always Ready (Bolivia), starting at 21:00 (Brasilia time) at home. The team fights for one of the two spots in Group E with Deportivo Cali (Colombia) and Boca Juniors (Argentina).
São Paulo, on the other hand, has a less tense duel, as it has already qualified for the next phase of the Copa Sudamericana. On Wednesday (25) Tricolor receives Ayacucho (Peru).
For the Brasileirão, São Paulo plays on Saturday (28) against Ceará, in Morumbi. The following day, Timão will defend the lead against América-MG, also at home.
