The first half was busy, with São Paulo dominating even playing away from home. Goalkeeper Cássio, from Corinthians, made several difficult saves, as in Alisson’s kick, which he received inside the area and hit the first time, on the right. The Corinthians number 12 stretched out to put it for a corner, at 18.

At 26, the goalkeeper again needed to work on Calleri’s header after a long shot by Rodrigo Nestor.

In the midst of the tricolor domain, Corinthians came to swing the net at 35, with Jô, but the goal was annulled due to offside by Renato Augusto, who made the cross.

A confusion between players from both teams, added to the time to review and cancel the Corinthians goal, resulted in long additions and São Paulo finally got their goal in the 50th minute. After a free kick in the area, Alisson was left with the leftovers and found Calleri inside the area. The Argentine dominated and shot, opening the scoring and scoring for the seventh time in the championship. He is the top scorer of the competition.

Before the break, Tricolor still had time to demand three great defenses from Cássio in the same bid.

Timão equals in the second stage

Right at the beginning of the second stage, an off-field fact drew attention: referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio informed the fourth referee that a part of the Corinthians fans chanted homophobic chants aimed at São Paulo. The act can be used for an eventual punishment to the team.

At 15, São Paulo had a goal disallowed for offside by Eder. In the first half of the second half, the team still prevailed over the rival, but little by little it was losing territory.

The onslaughts paid off for Timão. At 34, three players who came in after the break when coach Vitor Pereira set up the play for the equalizer. Júnior Moraes played to the left, where Lucas Piton dominated and crossed for Adson to head in.

The draw extended São Paulo’s taboo at the Corinthians stadium: since the Arena was inaugurated, in 2014, Tricolor has never beaten the opponent in enemy territory. There are 16 games, with ten Corinthians victories and six draws.

The two teams have commitments for the continental tournaments in the middle of the week. On Thursday (26), Timão decides its future in Libertadores against Always Ready (Bolivia), starting at 21:00 (Brasilia time) at home. The team fights for one of the two spots in Group E with Deportivo Cali (Colombia) and Boca Juniors (Argentina).

São Paulo, on the other hand, has a less tense duel, as it has already qualified for the next phase of the Copa Sudamericana. On Wednesday (25) Tricolor receives Ayacucho (Peru).

For the Brasileirão, São Paulo plays on Saturday (28) against Ceará, in Morumbi. The following day, Timão will defend the lead against América-MG, also at home.
