At the end of the mobilization this Sunday in defense of the INE
President Lorenzo Córdova uploaded a video to his social networks in which he highlights: Hello, how are you, I greet you from Mexico City. Not as the detractors of democracy claim, from another country
.
In his message, the counselor underlines: It is here, where the INE advisers decided to be to follow up on the many peaceful demonstrations that took place in more than 50 cities in Mexico and in other parts of the world in which hundreds of thousands of people spoke out in defense of our democracy and in defense of our electoral system against the risks of anti-democratic regression that the country is experiencing
.
Córdova asserts in his message: At the INE we see with enthusiasm and satisfaction that citizens value and defend this democracy that with so much sacrifice was built gradually and collectively in recent decades, thanks to everyone
.
In his video, he explains that The members of the General Council of the INE decided not to attend these legitimate acts of defense of democracy to avoid that our presence could be used to disqualify the free will of the citizenry that today will be heard in the streets to protect our democratic conquests
.
He also points out that Mexican democracy is not built in a day, nor is it the work of a single man, not a single party or a single political force, it is the product of many civic struggles against a hegemonic party regime, struggles against electoral fraud that characterized that pre-democratic past
