The day before, 17 deputies of the PVEM Parliamentary Group made public their decision to support the Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) for the 2024 presidential candidacy.
Within hours of the start of the session of the chambers of Congress, all the parliamentary groups held preliminary meetings.
Although the plenary sessions of deputies from Morena, the Labor Party and PVEM had almost always been held jointly since 2018, since they vote en bloc by legislative coalition, now the dispute over the presidential nomination led them to meet separately to have their own catwalk of “caps”.
Four of the five candidates for the presidential nomination attended the PVEM event: Ebrard; the head of government of the City, Claudia Sheinbaum; the leader of the Morena senators, Ricardo Monreal, and the PT deputy Gerardo Fernández Noroña. Only the head of Segob, Adán Augusto López, was missing.
All the so-called “corcholatas” also presented themselves to the Labor Party party.
The national leader of Morena, Mario Delgado Carrillo, announced that in the second half of the year Morena will launch the call for the 2024 presidential candidacy.
Delgado also asked the candidates for the presidential candidacy to maintain unity, not commit “treason” and first support the Morena candidates for the governments of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez, and Coahuila, Armando Guadiana.
