Santiago.– The general director of the Santiago Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Coraasan), engineer Andrés Cueto, reported that the work to correct the fault registered in a section of the 60-inch adduction line, on its way through the La Zanja sector, in the Sabana Iglesia municipality, was successfully completed.
The official explained that, after completing the 16 hours required for the drying of the concrete in the intervened line, the corresponding tests were carried out and the pumping of the system began on Tuesday night.
Cueto explained that the Bao counter-reservoir and the López intake are capturing raw water, which is conveyed to the Cibao Central and La Dura de Moca aqueducts, from where, after its purification process, it is distributed to the population.
He indicated that the collection line is operating at full capacity, with a flow of five cubic meters per second of raw water, equivalent to about 115 million gallons per day, so the service will begin to be restored gradually in the affected sectors.
In that sense, he specified that the municipalities of Puñal, Licey al Medio, Tamboril, a large part of the main municipality of Santiago de los Caballeros and La Dura de Moca will receive the supply of drinking water normally in the next few hours.
The director of Coraasan thanked the support and follow-up of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Vice President Raquel Peña, as well as the support of the institutions that provided support during the work day.
