The national secretary general of Copei, deputy Juan Carlos Alvarado, expressed this Tuesday, November 25, his support for a possible direct dialogue between the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the president of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, as a need for peace and understanding.
Alvarado described Trump’s willingness to have telephone contact with Maduro as correct and correct, underscoring the importance of a dialogue without intermediaries:
“A dialogue of peace, direct dialogue, without checkpoints, without any type of action that causes anxiety, fear or terror for our population,” he insisted.
The spokesperson criticized the positions of the “frustrated Secretary of State, Marco Rubio,” whom he accused of insisting on taking the country down the path of violence.
Alvarado added that the Venezuelan people expect peace and stability. «Today the country is focused, the country wants peace, it wants Christmases in peace. He wants to solve his problems in peace. With our deep differences with the governing party, yes, but always through the route of dialogue, understanding and the search for agreement,” he expressed.
The Copeyan leader rejected the plans of the US administration that, in his opinion, have promoted confrontation and internal destabilization. He pointed out that these strategies have not been successful because “the Venezuelan people have matured and learned in the last 27 years.”
He recalled that on November 18, Copei presented the initiative of a “Great National Agreement“as a response to threats from the United States government. The proposal seeks to bring together all political and social sectors of the country around the defense of sovereignty, peace and stability, proposing dialogue as a fundamental tool to overcome internal and external differences.
