The Military Police of Minas Gerais (PMMG) recorded, this Sunday (10), incidents involving fans of Atlético-MG and Flamengo, both in the vicinity of Arena MRV, in Belo Horizonte, and on roads in the capital of Minas Gerais and the region, as a result of of the Brazilian Cup final. On the field, Rubro-Negro won 1-0 and won the title.
According to the PM, in contact with the Brazil Agencysix Galo fans were detained when they tried to enter the arena without paying for tickets, about an hour before the ball rolled. One of them, aged 24, reported that he jumped the turnstile claiming that the entrance was expensive (at gate 13, the sector that the suspect wanted to invade, the entire ticket cost R$ 830.00).
Another riot, according to the corporation, was recorded near the Flamengo fans’ entrance, in the bar sector, at around 5:30 pm (Brasília time), during the final stage of the match, involving two people who attacked each other. According to the PM, it was necessary to use tear gas during the intervention. One of the detainees suffered a bleeding nose and bruises on his back.
The entry of red and black fans to Arena MRV had reports of delays in opening the gates, on the grounds of a failure in the system that identified tickets. There was also an attempted invasion. The use of pepper gas by police officers in an attempt to disperse the confusion affected those already inside the stadium.
Also according to the Military Police, there was a confrontation between Flamengo and Atlético fans in Ribeirão das Neves (MG), metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in which one person was hit with scissors. According to the PM, around 11 am, a vehicle with three red and black people was surrounded by six black and white people on Avenida Dionísio Gomes, in the Veneza neighborhood. Due to the fight, two individuals (one aged 27 and the other aged 28, the latter pierced in the armpit) were taken to the São Judas Tadeu Municipal Hospital.
On social media, internet users reported a duel between flamengo fans and athletes on Avenida Pedro I, in the Venda Nova region, in the capital of Minas Gerais. The images show the throwing of stones and the use of flares, which scared drivers traveling along the road. None of those involved were found when police arrived at the scene.
