The second and last day of the 2023 Cuban Athletics Cup closed with a national record in the mixed 4×400 meter flat (m/p) relay, publishes the Cuban News Agency.
The new mark was registered by Leandro Zamora, Roxana Gómez, Yoandy Lescay and Lisneydi Veitia, who completed the four laps of the oval in a time of 3:16:91.
In other results, the indoor world champion in Belgrade last year, Lázaro Martínez, achieved a mark of 16.98 m to prevail in the triple jump ahead of Cristian Nápoles (16.96 m) and Andy Echevarría (16.10 m).
The press highlighted that Yaritza de la Caridad Martínez was the winner in the hammer throw with a distance of 63.70 m, leaving second place to Hasana Divoux (61.95 m) and third to Leidy Viamontes (59.66 m).
On the other hand, Eduardo Nápoles took the best results in the pole vault by flying above 5.30 m.
Kerlys Madrazo took the gold medal in the women’s heptathlon, a multiple event in which she added 5,367 points, followed by the Costa Rican Mariel Broocks (4,795) and Edianlys Batista (3,280).
The young Marys Patterson was the winner when she led the high jump with 1.80 m, ahead of Yumilaidis Martén (1.75 m). This specialty had two bronze medal winners, Nataly Armenteros and the Costa Rican Abigail Lobango, who jumped 1.75 m the same as Martén 1.75 m.
The Cuban Athletics Cup closes its doors this Sunday with a marathon day in which 20 finals are played.
