The EPS Coosalud board of directors asked President Gustavo Petro to retract his statements, in which he accused them of allowing an “alleged theft” of more than 200,000 million pesos, according to information from the Health Superintendency.
In a statement, the junta questioned a publication by the head of state in which he stated that the board would have “recast” close to 200,000 million pesos.
“This is the Coosalud board where 200,000 million pesos were ‘refunded’ that the treasury gave him to serve his members. You judge,” says President Petro’s trill.
The members of the board assured that this statement was unfounded and demanded a rectification, in addition to questioning the complaint made by the Health Superintendency.
“Mr. President, you pointed us out in an insulting and slanderous manner in an activity in which we have not participated in our capacity as members of the Board of Directors, because the activity you refer to never existed. Unfortunately, ignorance and the desire to please the nominator caused the National Superintendent of Health to make statements that are openly contrary to the truth,” the document stated.
The EPS directive denied that there was any authorization to use UPC money for different purposes to those established by law.
“In this regard, an elementary or simple analysis of the trust contract and the credit operation with the GNB Sudameris Bank was enough to understand that the guarantee intended to support the credit operation “consisted of the resources or income transferred from the IPS owned by the Coosalud cooperative group.”adds the petition.
The signatories clarified that the resources debited by the bank in favor of the trust corresponded to funds previously disbursed by the same financial entity as part of a guaranteed credit operation.
“In addition, own resources of The cooperative, close to 50 billion, was also funding the trust, whose destiny was none other than the fulfillment of the technical reserves of the EPS. No bank accepts exclusive resources as collateral,” they added.
In the letter, the managers insisted that this shows that “There is no loss or different destination tending to ‘recast’ Social Security resources”.

The board of directors of Coosalud concluded its statement by recalling that President Petro “has the duty to report truthfully and rigorously,” and they assured that the seven members have had their good name unfairly affected by someone who has the duty to act as the supreme administrative authority.
