The Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD) and the Central American Agricultural Council (CAC) held an intersectoral meeting to coordinate a work agenda.
This agenda seeks to increase the efficiency of agricultural production and the sustainable management of natural resources. “The ministries of agriculture and environment come together to share responsibilities in the conservation of natural resources,” said the Pro Tempore president of the CAC and minister of Agricultural Development in Panama, Augusto Valderrama. On his side, the Pro Tempore CCAD president, Milcíades Concepción, stressed that before there was no environmental mainstreaming between the work plans of the environment and agriculture portfolios, but now that has changed.
“In the daily activities of the countries, in agriculture, this integration is common,” said the also Minister of the Environment of Panama. The authorities of Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic cited the importance of the activity carried out.
