Conviasa asked to suspend air operations to fly to Quito and Guayaquil

Conviasa had permission to operate on two routes that connected Caracas with the Andean country until 2025.

The state airline Conviasa requested the cancellation of the permit granted to it by the National Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador to operate on the Maiquetía-Quito-Maiquetía and Maiquetía-Guayaquil-Maiquetía routes.

According to the newspaper The CommerceConviasa requested that its authorization be revoked citing “operational reasons”, despite the fact that its permit was valid until December 9, 2025.

After this, the National Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador authorized the request made by the Venezuelan state company on October 7.

Along with it, the Mexican low-budget airline Viva Aerobus made the same request to the aeronautical authorities of the Andean nation; request that was approved on October 2.

This decision leaves almost half a million Venezuelans without access to essential documents and consular services, according to the last warning. Tuesday April 16 the political scientist and activist Betzabeth Jaramillo.

The measure prevents approximately 474,000 Venezuelans, according to data from the R4V platform, from accessing essential services such as the processing of passports and visas, as well as the regularization of their immigration status.

In Jaramillo’s opinion, according to a press release, the unilateral decision of the Maduro administration triggered a “humanitarian and human rights crisis” for Venezuelans in that country.

With this revoked permit, at the request of Conviasa, the number of destinations to which the Venezuelan State airline operates is reduced, coupled with the decrease in the country’s international connections, after Maduro decided to withdraw all of his diplomatic personnel from several countries in Latin America for their criticism of the July 28 election process.
