The value obtained by the fishing products that Uruguay exports continues to improve in 2023accentuating a trend that has been appreciated since 2021 and was confirmed during the past year.
This year the average price per ton in the initial semester amounted to US$ 2,013when in the same period last year it was at US$ 1,967.
against hand
Bridging the gap (based on the fact that beef exports are the main generator of foreign currency income for the country and with a huge distance in relation to what fish contributes: in 2022 US$ 2,557 million versus US$ 133 million ), this year the average value of a ton of exported fish advances while that of beef recedes, where a drop of 13.8% was seen (US$ 5,116 at this point in 2022 against current US$ 4,409 , always per ton).
what has happened andn the initial semester of 2023 is that slightly less fishery products were exported and for a smaller global amount24,328 tons in exchange for US$48,967,000, given that in those six months of 2022 27,131 tons had been exported for US$53,378,000.
Therefore, the data for 2023 are the best in average value and those for 2022 are the best considering the total amount obtained and volume shipped, considering the last eight years.
The data was provided to The Observer from the National Directorate of Aquatic Resources (Dinara) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP).
